PARKS SHOOTING RANGE ASSISTANT PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Description

This safety-sensitive (SS) part-time position, working an average of 29 hours or less per week, will provide leadership and support for the new public shooting range. The ideal candidate must have experience and an understanding of the various shooting disciplines such as, Trap, Skeet, Archery, Rifle and Pistol. This position will be working with the city’s Parks Director and the Range’s Project Manager in ordering equipment and preparing the facility for opening to the public. This position will work an average of 29 hours or less per week and will be required to work weekends and special events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age and no felony record and no criminal charges or court orders that would prevent you from being in possession of firearms.
  • 12 months related experience with various shooting disciplines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow policies, safety rules and instructions.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • A successful Background Check.

Education and Experience:

Must have a minimum of 12 months of experience and understanding of various shooting disciplines including trap, skeet, rifle, and pistol. Must not have any felons or criminal charges. Must be 21 years of age unless has military experience.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and

maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

Critical Thinking Skills:

Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.

Initiative Supervision Received:

Under immediate supervision, performs general assignments of work, with periodic check of performance by supervisor.

Planning:

Limited responsibility with regard to specific assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work operations.

Decision Making:

Performs work operations which permit infrequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and which would only affect the operating efficiency of the individual involved to a slight degree.

Analytical Ability/ Problem Solving

Moderately repetitive. Activities with slight variation using a definite set of processes or directions with some degree of supervision. Choice of learned things in situations which conform to clearly established patterns and modes.

Use of machines, equipment, and/or computers:

Ability to operate equipment including, but are not limited to: computer, printer, and scanner

Working Conditions:

Outside working environment, wherein there are disagreeable working conditions part of the time including hot weather.
